The Mass in the Park
at Griffintown-St.Ann Park

A park was created at the old site of Saint Ann's church at the foot of Mountain Street in Griffintown. Now called Griffintown-St-Ann Park.

It is here that we meet to celebrate the Feast of St. Ann.
O Inside the old Saint Ann's Church.
Who was Saint Ann?
Saint Ann and Saint Joachim are the parents of the Blessed Mother and the grandparents of Jesus. There is no mention of either Saint Ann or Saint Joachim in the bible and all of our information concerning their lives is derived from three apocryphal souces: The Gospel of the Nativity of Mary, Pseudo-Matthew and the Protoevangelium of James. These sources tell us that in Nazareth there lived a rich and pious couple , Joachim and Hannah (Ann) who were advanced in years and childless.
After a difficult experience and after each spouse was visited by an angel, Hannah gave birth to a daughter whom the couple names Miriam (Mary).
The Feast of Saint Ann and Saint Joachim is celebrated on July 26. This year (2004) we will celebrate on July 26 with a mass in the park. All are welcome to attend.
